The board has a noncombustible gypsum core and paper facings on the front, back, and long edges. It is available in two thicknesses and several edge treatments, and its ivory facing paper will accommodate a variety of decorative treatments after proper surface preparation.
Because of its strengthened, fire-resistant core, Firecheck Type C can remain intact for a prolonged period of time during a fire, preventing the further spread of flames and, when properly sealed at the joints, smoke.
Firecheck Type C is designed for use in applications that require direct mechanical attachment to wood or metal framing or as a component of fire-rated assemblies. It can also be used as a thermal barrier in roof assemblies when specified by the roofing manufacturer.
